Share a receipt

Sharing points somebody at a receipt where it already lives, at the moment it is pinned to. They read what you wrote, they see the video behind it, and they can vote or reply on the card everyone else is using.

Copy the link

1. Find the receipt on a video page or in a feed
2. Look along the bottom of the card, in the row with the comment button, for the share arrow
3. Click it. A small panel opens just above it, headed Share this receipt, with the link already in the box
4. Click the copy button beside the link. It turns into a checkmark, and the link is on your clipboard

On a phone, Share via system… hands the link to your phone's own share sheet, so it can go straight into a message. On a computer, buttons for X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Reddit open each site's compose window with the link already in it.

The share arrow sits on receipts in the public feed and in custom feeds. Receipts in your Private feed and your Drafts carry no share control, since nobody else can open them anyway. The video's own share control is separate: it shares the whole video page rather than a single receipt.

What the link carries

The panel makes a short link where it can, so what you copy is usually a tidy one. If the short link cannot be made, the box holds the full link instead and a notice says so. Both go to the same place.

The full link comes in two shapes, and the feed the receipt lives in decides which one you get.

A receipt in the public feed gets a page of its own, at the video's address followed by /r/ and the receipt's id. Opening it lands on the video page with the receipt open. Paste it into a chat or a post and the preview shows the receipt rather than the plain video card, once the receipt has cleared review.

A receipt in a custom feed gets a link to the video page that names both the receipt and the feed it belongs to. It opens the same way for anyone who can read that feed. It has no page of its own, so a preview of it shows the video.

The moment travels with it

If the receipt is pinned to a point in the video, the link carries that point, and opening it starts the video there instead of at the beginning. A receipt pinned to the very start, or one with no time on it, opens the video normally. Timestamps covers how the pin gets set and what clicking one does.

Trimming the time off the end of a link by hand does not lose it for a public receipt. That link knows its own moment and puts it back.

A custom-feed link only opens for members

A custom feed is readable by the people who are in it, and a link does not change that. Someone who is not a member opens your link, lands on the video page, and gets a short notice reading Receipt unavailable, telling them they may not have access to this shared receipt. The video is there. The receipt is not.

That is deliberate rather than a fault, so the answer is access, not a different link. Add the person to the feed and the same link works for them. Feed sharing and access covers invites and permission levels.
