Cross-post a receipt to another feed

Pick the extra feeds before you post, from the Posting to button in the compose tray. Each destination gets its own independent copy rather than a shared link. After posting, the receipt's menu offers Copy to and Move to, and a share link carries the feed the receipt lives in.

Cross-posting happens at compose time, from the Posting to button in the tray header. You tick the extra feeds before you post, and each one receives its own full copy of the receipt rather than a pointer to a shared original.

Before you post

  1. Open the compose tray on any video and look at the tray header. Posting to sits at the left, next to a button naming your primary destination, which is set by whichever feed you are currently viewing. On a phone, starting a receipt opens the editor across the whole screen and covers that header: tap Collapse to tray to bring it back, and Expand when you want the big editor again.

  2. Click it. The picker opens with the primary feed at the top, its checkbox ticked and locked, labeled Default. You cannot deselect it: whatever else you choose, the primary post always happens.

  3. Tick the extras. Everything else you can post to is listed underneath, grouped as This video and Global where both kinds exist, with each row tagged Video or Global. If there is nothing else, the picker says No other feeds available.

  4. Post. The Posting to button carries a +2 style count while extras are selected. Afterwards a confirmation reads Cross-posted and names how many additional feeds got a copy.

Selections reset once you post, and when you switch to a different draft, so composing the next receipt starts from the primary destination again.

On a phone you do not have to collapse the editor again to check your work: the full-screen editor names every extra destination in its own header, after the badge for the primary one.

Drafts do not cross-post

Composing a draft, the picker replaces the list with Drafts post to a single destination. A draft is a single work in progress, so it goes to one place and can be cross-posted later, once it is a real receipt.

Each copy stands alone

This is the part that surprises people, so it is worth stating plainly. Cross-posting does not create one receipt visible in several feeds. It creates several receipts:

  • Each has its own 15-minute edit window.
  • Each gets its own moderation pass.
  • Each is edited and deleted separately. Correcting one leaves the others as they were.

The primary post is the canonical one. If a correction needs to reach every copy, it has to be made on every copy.

When one destination fails

The primary post is never rolled back on account of an extra. If some extras were written and others were not, usually because your role on one of them does not allow posting, the notice reads Cross-posted with errors and counts both sides. If none of the extras landed, it says so separately. In either case, fix your access on the feed that refused and post there directly.

Getting an existing receipt into another feed

The compose picker only exists while you are writing. For a receipt that already exists, use the dot menu on its card:

  • Copy to… makes a second, independent receipt in the destination and the person copying becomes its owner. It is offered to the receipt's author and to admins of a non-public feed.
  • Move to… relocates the receipt and keeps its original owner, which is why only the author is offered it. The feed the receipt is already in is left out of the destination list, since moving something to where it already is does nothing.

Both open the same short list of destinations: Public, Private, Draft, and your custom feeds.

Sharing a receipt rather than copying it

If what you want is for somebody to read the receipt where it already lives, share it instead. The share control on a receipt builds a link that carries the receipt, its timestamp, and, for a custom-feed receipt, the feed it belongs to, so a member opening the link lands on the receipt with the right feed active. That is one receipt seen by two people, rather than two receipts.
