Video Syncing & Timestamps
How do timestamps work? When you create a receipt, the timestamp is automatically captured from wherever the video is currently playing. You can adjust it manually before saving. When someone clicks a receipt's timestamp, the video jumps to that exact moment.
My receipt timestamp seems off. What happened? Make sure you pause the video at the right moment before opening the receipt editor. If the timestamp isn't quite right, you can manually adjust it using the time controls in the editor.
Can I change a receipt's timestamp after saving? Yes, but only within the 15-minute editing window after creation. After that, the timestamp is locked along with the rest of the receipt.
Do receipts sync across devices? Receipts saved to Public, Private, or Custom feeds sync across all your devices automatically. Drafts are stored locally on the device where you created them and won't appear on other devices.
Privacy & Visibility
Who can see my receipts? It depends on the feed where the receipt lives:
- Public feed — Everyone can see them.
- Private feed — Only you.
- Drafts — Only you (stored on your device).
- Custom feeds — Only people the feed is shared with.
Can I make a public receipt private? Yes! You can move a receipt from the public feed to your private feed or a custom feed using the move/copy feature.
Are my votes anonymous? Yes. Other users cannot see who voted on a receipt. Your voting activity is completely private.
Can other users see my personas? Other users see your persona's display name and avatar when you post, but they cannot see your real account details or which personas belong to the same account.
Content Lifecycle
How long can I edit a receipt? You have 15 minutes from creation to make edits. After that, the receipt becomes permanent and can no longer be changed.
What happens when I delete a receipt? The receipt is permanently removed along with all its comments and votes. This action cannot be undone.
What if the original YouTube video is removed or made private? Your receipts remain in Vid Receipts, but the video player will show an error or "Video unavailable" message. The receipt content, timestamps, and discussions are all preserved.
Can I recover a deleted receipt? No. Deletion is permanent. If you're unsure, consider moving a receipt to your Private feed or saving it as a Draft instead of deleting it.
Account Management
How do I connect my YouTube account? Go to Settings → YouTube → "Connect YouTube Account". You'll be redirected to Google for authorization. See our full guide for a detailed walkthrough.
How do I disconnect my YouTube account? Go to Settings → YouTube → "Disconnect YouTube Account". Your receipts and all other data remain completely unaffected.
Can I use Vid Receipts without a YouTube account? Absolutely! You just need a Google account to sign in. Connecting YouTube is optional and only unlocks extra browsing features like viewing your subscriptions.
How do I delete my account? Contact our support team to request account deletion. We'll remove your account and all associated data.
Subscriptions & Billing
What plans are available? Vid Receipts offers Individual plans (Free, Plus, Premium), Creator plans (Standard, Elite), and Business plans (Starter, Pro). See the full plan comparison for details.
What happens when I hit a limit on the free plan? You'll see a notification letting you know you've reached your limit (e.g., 50 receipts per month or 3 custom feeds). Your existing data is never affected. You can upgrade to continue creating, or wait until the next billing period for monthly limits to reset.
Can I switch plans at any time? Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately (prorated). Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel? Your receipts, feeds, comments, and votes are never deleted when you downgrade or cancel. You simply can't create new content beyond the free tier limits. If you re-subscribe later, everything is still there.
Do you offer refunds? We don't offer refunds for partial billing periods. Since you can cancel at any time and keep access until the period ends, there's no lock-in.
Is there a free trial for paid plans? Not currently. The free tier gives you a generous starting point to explore the platform before committing to a paid plan.
What payment methods do you accept? We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Business plans can also be invoiced.
How does per-seat pricing work for Business plans? You pay for each team member in your organization. When you add or remove a member, your next invoice adjusts automatically. See Business Teams for details.
