Sharing a Feed
Share your custom feeds with other users and teams.
Custom feeds let you group receipts for a specific purpose, a research project, a themed collection, a team workspace. You can create as many as you need.

How to share a feed
- Open the Feed Manager from any video page, or open the feed from the Feeds tab on your dashboard
- Select the custom feed you want to share
- Click Manage Members (or the Share button)
- Add users by their email address — see below for the difference between sharing with existing users and inviting new ones
- Set a permission level for each user:
- Admin: can add, edit, and delete receipts, manage settings, and invite others
- Poster (Contributor): can add and edit their own receipts, comment, and vote
- Commenter: can comment and vote, but can't create receipts
- Lurker (Viewer): can view and vote only
- Click Save to apply your changes
Sharing with existing Vid Receipts users
If the email you enter already belongs to a Vid Receipts account, the user is added to the feed immediately. They will see the feed appear in their dashboard and on relevant video pages on their next visit, with their permission level already set.
Inviting people who don't have an account yet
If the email isn't tied to an account, Vid Receipts sends a branded invitation email with a single-click "Join Feed" link.
- The invitation is valid for 7 days and can only be used once.
- When the invitee clicks the link, they land on a personalized page that shows who invited them and what feed they're joining, and walks them through creating an account (or signing in).
- As soon as they finish signing up, they're automatically added to your feed with the permission level you set — no extra step required.
- You can revoke any pending invitation at any time from the Manage Members dialog.
- Pending invitations that go unused are automatically cleaned up by the system shortly after they expire, so your member list never gets cluttered.
Inviting several people at once
Need to onboard a whole team?
- In the Manage Members dialog, paste up to 20 email addresses at once (one per line or comma-separated).
- Pick a single permission level for the batch and send.
- Vid Receipts processes the batch in parallel and shows you a per-email status so you can see exactly which invitations went out and which (if any) failed.
- To prevent abuse, you can send up to 20 pending invitations per feed per hour. If you need more, just wait and continue afterward.
Making a feed discoverable
Want to open your feed up to a wider audience?
- Toggle the Discoverable setting in your feed's settings.
- Your feed will appear in the Discover Feeds dialog that any signed-in user can browse and search.
- Other users can request to join discoverable feeds — see Handling access requests below.
- Discoverable feeds still respect permissions: new joiners get the default permission level you choose.
Handling access requests
If your feed is discoverable (or if you've shared a viewer-level role with someone and they want to do more), other users can request elevated access:
- They can ask to become a Poster (Contributor) or Admin and include an optional message explaining why.
- You'll see pending requests at the top of the Manage Members dialog and receive an in-app notification.
- Approve to grant the requested role immediately, or Deny to dismiss the request.
- Either way, the requester gets an in-app notification with your decision.
Sharing with groups
If you've set up User Groups, you can share a feed with an entire group at once instead of adding people one by one.
- Select a group instead of an individual when sharing.
- Everyone in the group gets the same permission level.
- See User Groups for details on setting up groups.
Member activity log
Every important membership event on your feed is recorded in an Activity Log at the bottom of the Manage Members dialog so owners and admins always know who did what:
- Members joining, leaving, or being removed
- Role changes
- Invitations sent and accepted
- Access requests created, approved, or denied
The log keeps the 50 most recent events per feed.
Notifications
You don't need to manually tell people their access has changed — Vid Receipts will send an in-app notification automatically whenever:
- A user's role on a feed they belong to is changed
- A user is removed from a feed
- A feed they belong to is deleted
Tips
- Start with tighter permissions and loosen them as needed
- Use the Admin role sparingly. Admins can invite others and change settings
- You can update or revoke access at any time from the Manage Members dialog
