Commenting on receipts
How to leave comments on receipts, who can comment in each feed role, and how comment visibility works.
Comments let you discuss, question, and build on specific receipts. They turn a one-way annotation into a two-way conversation, helping the community refine and verify information shared on any video.
This contradicts the study they cited at 4:12 - the original paper only applies to populations over 500k.
Good catch. The paper is behind a paywall but the abstract does clarify the sample size threshold.
Timestamp 6:30 has the speaker using the corrected figure. Worth noting the difference.

How to Comment
- Click on a receipt to expand it and see its full content.
- Find the comment box at the bottom of the expanded receipt.
- Type your comment and hit send.
Your comment will appear below the receipt, visible to anyone who can see that receipt.
Who can comment
Not everyone can leave comments, it depends on your role in the feed:
| Role | Can Comment |
|---|---|
| Owner | Yes |
| Admin | Yes |
| Contributor | Yes |
| Commenter | Yes |
| Viewer | No |
| Not signed in | No |
If you don't see a comment box, it means your current role in that feed doesn't include commenting permissions.
Tips for great comments
- Be specific: Reference the part of the receipt or video moment you're responding to.
- Be respectful: The same Content Guidelines that apply to receipts apply to comments too.
- Add value: Share additional context, corrections, or supporting evidence.
- Keep it relevant: Stay on topic with the receipt you're commenting on.
Visibility
Comments are visible to anyone who can view the receipt they're attached to. If a receipt is in a public feed, the comments are public. If it's in a custom feed, only members of that feed can see the comments.
