Set up team collaboration

End-to-end guide to setting up team collaboration in Vid Receipts, from user groups to feed permissions.

This guide walks you through the complete workflow for setting up team collaboration, from creating a group to sharing your first feed.

Step-by-step workflow

  1. Create a User Group: organize your team into a named group (how to create a group)
  2. Add your team members to the group by @handle, and pick the access they get when they come in
  3. Create a Custom Feed for your project or topic (how to create a feed)
  4. Point the feed at your group under Who can access? (how to share a feed)
  5. Tell your team the feed exists: everyone on the list can open it and let themselves in, at the level the group gives them

Choosing the right roles

  • Contributor is the best default for most team members, they can create and manage their own receipts without affecting anyone else's work
  • Admin works well for trusted collaborators who help moderate content and manage the feed
  • Viewer suits people who just need to follow along and signal agreement with votes

See Roles and permissions for the full breakdown of what each role can do.

Tips for effective collaboration

  • One group per feed: a feed points at one audience at a time. Somebody outside the group joins by invitation instead, alongside it
  • Individual overrides: if someone in a group needs different access, change their level on the feed's member list after they join
  • Start tighter, loosen later: it's easier to grant more access than to walk it back
  • Use descriptive feed names: when your team works across multiple feeds, clear naming helps everyone find what they need
