Troubleshooting the extension
Fixes for the panel not loading, sign-in issues, and other common problems with the browser extension.
The panel doesn't show a feed
You're not on a video page. The panel needs a youtube.com/watch page. YouTube's homepage, a channel page, or a search results page all show a short explanation instead of a feed. Open any video and the panel updates automatically.
The video has no receipts yet. A video nobody has receipted shows an honest empty state, not an error. Be the first: sign in and post one.
Sign-in isn't working
The Google account picker didn't open. Your browser may have blocked the popup. Allow popups for the extension and click Sign in again.
Signing in doesn't seem to stick. The extension's sign-in is separate from being signed in on vidreceipts.com in a regular tab, each keeps its own session. Sign in again from inside the panel's account section.
The timeline or playhead looks off
The playhead doesn't move. Make sure the video is actually playing; the timeline mirrors the video's real playback state. If it's still stuck, close and reopen the side panel to reconnect it to the tab.
A receipt marker points to the wrong moment. The timeline reads the timestamp the receipt was pinned at. If a video has ads, the timeline accounts for that automatically, so this is rare; if you still see it, refresh the tab.
Posting or voting didn't do anything
You're signed out. Composing, voting, and commenting all require signing in; the panel prompts you to sign in rather than silently failing.
Your receipt or comment is in review. New receipts and comments enter review the moment you post them and are visible to you right away, but they only become visible to everyone else once a moderator clears them. This is expected, not a bug.
A private or custom feed you're viewing is read-only for you. If you can only view a feed, not contribute to it, the composer is replaced with a note explaining that posting is limited to contributors.
The panel disappeared after switching tabs
Switch back to the tab you had the panel open on, or reopen it from the toolbar icon. Each tab's side panel is its own instance; on Edge, the sidebar doesn't automatically reappear when you return to a tab, so you may need to click the toolbar icon again.
Still stuck
Email us at info@vidreceipts.com with a description of what happened and, if you can, a screenshot. Let us know whether you were on Chrome or Edge.
