AI receipt suggester
The receipt composer has an optional Suggest with AI button that drafts up to three short receipt ideas based on the video you're watching, the timestamp you're paused at, and anything you've already started typing.
You stay in control:
- The AI never posts anything for you.
- Suggestions are dropped into your editor as a starting point. You can edit, rewrite, or delete them like any other text you typed yourself.
- Every receipt. AI-assisted or not, still passes through the same content moderation before it appears publicly.
When the button shows up
You'll see the ✦ Suggest with AI pill below the editor when:
- You're signed in.
- The video's title and channel info have loaded.
The feature is on by default. If your administrator has disabled it for your environment, the button won't appear.
How to use it
- Pin a timestamp on the video, just like a normal receipt.
- (Optional) Write a few words in the editor as a "seed", the model uses this to bias toward your angle.
- Click Suggest with AI. A small panel opens and shows up to three drafts, each with a one-line "why" underneath.
- Click any draft to replace your editor content with it. Keep editing as you like.
- Hit the regenerate icon for a fresh batch.
Quotas
AI suggestions count against a separate monthly quota from receipts:

If you hit your quota, you'll see a "Monthly AI suggestion quota reached" message and the button stays available next month (or after upgrading).
What the AI is told not to do
The system prompt explicitly tells the model to:
- Never invent facts about the video, when in doubt, suggest a question rather than a claim.
- Never impersonate the creator or other commenters.
- Stay under 280 characters per suggestion.
- Skip emoji, hashtags, and @-mentions unless your seed already used them.
- Return up to three drafts, fewer if it can't think of three useful, distinct ones.
Privacy
When you click Suggest with AI, the following is sent to Google's Gemini API:
- The YouTube video title, channel name, and description (these are public).
- The current playback timestamp.
- Anything you've typed into the editor as a seed.
- Optional context such as nearby receipts on the same video.
We do not send your account email, real name, or persona details. The request is logged for usage tracking and quota enforcement only, the suggestion text itself is not stored on our servers.
Reporting bad suggestions
If a suggestion produces something inappropriate or factually wrong, please use the Report action on the resulting receipt (after you post it) or email info@vidreceipts.com. Reports help us tune the prompt and shortlist of models.
